As-is, VP6DX.BA has short-term value to Radio Amateurs who desire contact with DXpedition operators of station VP6DX while it's on-air at Ducie Island. Ducie Island is a South Pacific atoll that's located at South 24°40'52.6" by West 124°47'11.0". The program reports the sunset time in UTC and sunrise time in UTC at Ducie Island (and solar azimuths) for the current date. It senses the DATE$ function of the laptop in order to ascertain the current date. Because times are reported in UTC (i.e., the Greenwich Mean Time zone) and the TIME$ function influences the change of date occurrence in the DATE$ function, accurate reports result only where you have set TIME$ and DATE$ of the laptop so that they express the UTC time and the UTC date. However for Grayline propagation prediction purposes, sufficiently accurate reports are obtained where the DATE$ of the laptop differs from the UTC date by less than 2 days. Note that VP6DX.BA is a special purpose variant of SUNUP.BA which also is available (file SUNUP.DO).
